So you
are writing a post for you blog and you want to find the best keywords for your
post. That sure is going to be a difficult job. At the same time it is very
important for your SEO. So it is very important for your post as well as the
blog. And how are going to find the
perfect keywords for your post? Even if
we choose a good keyword, how much popular is it? How is the competition with
that keyword? There is a simple answer to all these questions. Google Keyword
Planner.
How to access the keyword planner
Access
the keyword planner is quite easy. All you
need is a Google Adwords account. Don’t think
it has a huge sign-up process or anything. Go to http://www.adwords.google.com and sign up for Google Adwords account. It is
easier if you use your Google account for sign-up process. After you have
completed your sign up process, go to
your adwords account and from the menu Tools , select ‘Keyword
Planner’.
How to use it
The first
second and fourth options are necessary for us blogger for SEO. Let’s start
with the first one , the Search for new keywords and Adwords Idea.
1.Search for new
keywords and Adwords Idea
Let’s discuss the different parts of that menu. First
one is the Product or service field. This is where you want to enter about the
product or service you are writing about. An example called flowers is given.
But don’t use such common words singly. Combine it with other words like flower
market, or flowering plants to get better keywords. The second one is the Landing page/Home page
field. This is completely optional as its used primarily by advertisers. The
third field is the product category field. You can enter the category for
google to give a more accurate result.
After you enter any three of this
, you can enter the audience details. The targeting part of the keyword depends
on the kind of audience that your posts
are aimed at. If your majority audience is from
USA select country as USA. If the audience primarily speak English,
select English as language. If the search engine they are expected to use is
google , select search engine as google. The negative keywords is they keywords
that you might want to ignore. But all of this is optional and you can leave it
at default if you like.
The next one is customising your
searching. In the keywords filter option, you can change the number of average
searches per month. The larger the better. But with large average searches comes higher competition. Let’s
talk about that later on. The keyword options can be used for displaying or
hiding offensive keywords and such. You can include or exclude keywords using
the next field that is the Exclude/Include keyword option.
After completing this , click ‘Get
Ideas’. The results will be displayed. By default, the result is sorted by
relevance of adgroup. There is result in
another tab called “keyword ideas” also. Some people might say that one is the
correct one and we can ignore the “ad group ideas” tab. But I would say there are
some good keywords in both these tabs. Now
comes the trick part. We have to select the keyword that has good average
searches per month and low competition. That’s the best idea to increase traffic
to your blog . As the average searches increases, more and more people are
searching for that keyword per month. And if the competition is low, you can
easily rank among the first few pages very fast. As a newbie blogger, you might want to go easy
on it and add a keyword that has about
300-1000 monthly searches and low competition. Once you feel settled with the
whole idea of blogging and marketing, you can go for keywords with higher
competition. That wraps up the first option provided by the Google Keyword
planner
2. Get search volume for a list of keywords or group hem into ad groups
The
first option of the Keywords Planner gave you suggestions based on some entries or topic you give them. But this
option allows a blogger or advertiser t to input a specific keyword to find out
how the keyword performs for SEO. You could either type in the different keywords
or upload a list of keywords . The targeting
options are same as before and you can change it according to your audience. This gives the same results as that of Search for new keywords option,
but only the keywords you specified will be shown in the results.
3.Multiple Keyword lists.
In this option you can give two or more separate lists
for keywords. The tool combines the each keyword in one list with the keywords
in other list and these keyword combinations are used for searching. It allows quicker searching of multiple
keywords. Consider you have Indian, American, British in the first list and recipe
and cuisine in the next list. The Keywords planner tool then checks for the
combination of keywords such as Indian recipe, American recipe , British
recipe, Indian cuisine, American cuisine and British cuisine.
Summary
Summary
The Keywords Planner by Google Adwords is one hell of tool for finding and checking keywords. Keep track of your key words while posting any article on you blog . It is the most important feature of SEO. And the results will stay accurate as long as

Your step-by-step tutorial is very helpful. However, I think that many seo people and people using this tool sometimes start with the wrong framework. The key to me is ask the questions; what problem do I solve, who do I solve them for, and where are they hanging out.
ReplyOnce you do that, you have a whole army of words and phrases at your disposal. Just a thought...
Great tutorial very informative. Thanks for sharing these great tips.

ReplyWhile we’re on the topic of SEO, I wanted to mention Ahrefs. Ahrefs is a tool that allows you to do keyword research to ensure you’re targeting the best keywords with the highest traffic and lowest difficulty to rank for.
While this tool isn’t free or cheap, they do offer a free two-week trial. Alternatively, you can use their competitors like Moz or SEMrush (who also have free trials, hint hint). Whichever one you choose, if you’re serious about ranking on Google, I highly recommend a keyword research tool. Without them, you only have access to Google Keyword Planner, which doesn’t really help you find the right keywords.

SEOQuake
ReplySEOQuake is one of the most popular SEO toolboxes. It’s an extension that displays an SEO overview of any given page through a toolbar or SERP overlay. It can show the total number of indexed pages, domain age, social shares and external links.
This tool’s shining quality is its fluidity. Instead of individually checking sites through a standalone tool, you can view real time stats as you browse.
SEOQuake also offers a free on-page audit tool so that you know if there are any errors on your site – and, of course, they offer tips on how to correct these errors. Once you land on the page, just click the icon on the toolbar area.
